Why we built OwnerCompass
My father, who had run his own business for more than 30 years, was preparing to retire. However, a dispute with a business partner meant lawyers needed records going back years. My father, although great at running his business, was not the most organised, so we went through a painstaking process of collecting the information from three different laptops and paperwork from filing cabinets that hadn't been opened in years. It took months.
Around the same time, my friend's father passed away very unexpectedly. He was involved in a number of businesses, but his family knew very little about them. It has been about three years, and they are still being contacted about things they know nothing about. As well as the pain of losing him, they've been left with stress they just didn't need.
